A little break from my usual stuff

I have been busy doing a few different projects and just haven't had time to dedicate myself to Vanitas series. So I decided to take a little breather and work on this little drawing just for fun and practice. This is a fish called Bronzini. I got this fish a while ago for a photo shoot. After the photo shoot, I filleted it, pan-fried it in butter and olive oil, and ate it. It was very light and flaky, tastes a lot like cod, but better.

I am working on this piece in watercolor and graphite. I just finished an easier part. The scales will be challenging...

Vanitas 11 begins (01-28-2016)

Started working on a new piece Vanitas 11 a couple of days ago. This is going to be another graphite drawing. With the last one Vanitas 10, I enjoyed the process of filling in the entire background with graphite shading and I decided to repeat the process with this new piece.

DRAWING Magazine Shades of Gray Competition

My graphite drawing "Vanitas #3" was featured in the spring 2016 edition of DRAWING magazine. This drawing won the 2nd place in the Shades of Gray Competition.

Vanitas 3-2 update (12-1-2015)

I have finished 1/3 of this drawing from the top. I am happy about the way this is going so far. We cancelled our trip to Hungary and Austria this Christmas, so I might be able to finish this a little earlier than I antiipated...

Vanitas 3 update (10-12-2015)

I finally finished the graphite part of this drawing. I am still undecided if I should add a watercolor part to the bottom of this. I am going to make up my mind when I finish the part 2 of this diptych.
