Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 08:23PM "Vanitas 15" is very close to the finished stage. I just need to fine tune a few things here and there. I decided to drastically darken the background by rubbing graphite powder all over it in order to heighten the contrast. I was not 100% sure about it, but I feel it was a right decision after all. It took me a while to find a right object to go with this drawing. The idea of using a feather came to me a few days ago and it just felt right, so I went with it.
Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 05:47PM I finished Vanitas 12 (renamed from Vanitas 13) today. The final dimension is 10" x 9.5".

The rendering of the figure and the skull is pretty much done. Now I am working on the hair, then am going to move onto the fabric at the bottom. I am still not 100% sure how to treat the background yet...

Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 07:29PM I took a few months break from Vanitas series, but today I went back to work on this drawing I had started back in January this year. I am thinking about using an experimental technique for rendering this piece. Not sure if it actually works, but will see... I have so far shaded the part of the figure with 4H and 3H leads and ready to move on to darker leads now.
