Pastel on colored Canson paper, 2014.

The type of hard pastel chalk I used for this drawing is a little difficult to layer colors on top of. The medium tends to turn too slick after heavy blending. But it works great in the light-valued areas. This was the very first drawing I did after newly joining this group of artists that meets weekly to paint or draw. Being able to spend 3 hours on one drawing was very satisfying.
