Sanguine conte on colored pastel paper with white pastel for highlights, 2014.
This was a difficult drawing. Our model Dana was seated, and I was standing looking down to draw her. That created an interesting but challenging perspective. I do see a little perspective distortion in this drawing. And as if that hadn't been difficult enough, she was back-lit! Then I struggled with incompatibility of conte and this particular paper. I had to use greater than normal force trying to make the conte stay firmly on the paper. A wrong medium on a wrong surface, I found out. Not a happy day.
