Over a 4 week period from February to March this 2021, I took an online workshop by Annie Murphy Robinson on her charcoal sanding technique. It was an interesting technique and I can definitely use it for my drawing. This plaster drawing is what I finished after those 4 weeks. This technique expands the range of values, allowing you to control more subtle tonality. According to Annie, it expands the range as much as 10 times! That's the benefit and beauty of this technique. I am going to test this out with my next figure/portrait drawing.
