Broad & High

WOSU program Broad & High interviewed me about my paper craft projects last year. They produced a short segment for the program and it was aired today January 13th 2022. They interviewed and video taped me for almost 2 hours that day and edited down to about 8 minutes. So naturally a lot of things were on the cutting room floor, but overall it was a nice introduction to my side project. When I have something like this done, I am reminded that I really need to redesign my web site because right now the paper craft section on my site is pretty thin. I need to add more content to it. I think that is going to be one of my sabbatical projects...

Vanitas 30 finished

For nearly 3 months I worked on this piece on and off, going through several concept and design changes. In the earlier stage, I was over thinking and trying to pile up too many ideas in this piece. Finally I came to the end result that was much simpler and leaner. I am pretty happy with what I ended up with.

I have been working on this drawing since October with many interruptions. I am hoping I can finish this before the end of the year. So far I am happy with what I got. I was initially thinking about a texture filled background, but now I am thinking a simpler background might work better for this...

I just saw this cover photo of Drawing Magazine - Strokes of Genius 13 issue online with my drawing "Vanitas 23". What an unexpectedly wonderful birthday surprise! I can't wait to see a copy in person late November,

I received advanced copies of the magazine yesterday. Man, this is a great issue and I am not saying that because I have 2 pieces in it. Seriously, there are some jaw dropping, mouth watering and super inspiring artworks in this issue. It makes me feel honored and humbled to be a part of this wonderful publication! I am grateful for the juror Cuong Nguyen for selecting my pieces and Drawing Magazine for the Honorable Mention and using my piece on the cover.
