Graphite on vellum Bristol board, 21" x 14", 2015.

The first panel of a diptych. Along with its companion piece Vanitas 4, this piece has a subtle symbolism. The cloth shrouding the model's body (or unveiling in Vanitas 4) and the shape of the window mat with an arch at the top, remind us of a certain religious iconography. I am not a religious person but I do believe in spirituality and I don't mind people seeing that in this diptych.
