Fine Art Galleries > Vanitas > Vanitas 32 ("Spring")
Graphite on Bristol board, 18" diameter, 2022.
My very first circular drawing. In this piece, my model is positioned in between the wall behind her that shows the effect of time, decay, and a poppy flower down below that symbolizes a hope for rejuvenation in spring and for a better time. I particularly liked the symbolism of a white poppy. This flower symbolizes death but, when it is a white one, it also means peacefulness.
I borrowed the title "Spring" from a song by one of my favorite singers, Yoshiko Sai.
